Political Beliefs
Personally, my political beliefs are shaped around equality primarily. Immigrants strengthen our country, same-sex marriage, African Americans don’t have the equality right now that they deserve, etc. I believe that the government should require wealthy citizens to sacrifice a small percentage of their earnings for other less fortunate citizens but they which people would fall into this category. I understand that these wealthy people didn't become wealthy off donations but if you get to that point you should have to/want to help fellow American citizens even if it means making sacrifices. The citizens of the United States are struggling financially. Forty-one million Americans have lived in poverty in their life and around 100 million have lived in near poverty. People who are more successful and are financially stable should give a small percentage that won't hurt them at all to the people living in poverty and change the way they live and their life. No matter the age, creed, color, religious affiliation, or sex they should be able to have the right to speak freely without fear of retribution, the right to worship as one pleases, and the right to pursue the American dream.

  1. Hello Tyler,
Some of these statements I agree with, although I think that if you work hard, like many Americans do, you should keep what you earn. Charity gives many people in distress help and aid. Another topic you grazed was immigration. I feel like this is a topic of much debate right now. I believe that the process of immigration into our country should be respected. I still am learning more facts and stories about this topic to better my knowledge. As of now, I don't really have a stance on steps to be taken for undocumented immigrants that are in the USA currently.
